• Fostering the achievement of the environmental SDGs in the Egyptian Universities through boosting their operational capacities in developing environmentally sustainable campuses. This will be done by implementing activities to serve the environmental SDGS.

University of Sassari

• Embodying the principles of the environmental SDGs through organisational governance and strategic management of the Egyptian universities in order to ensure the alliance of their strategies with the SDGs.
• Quality management by Monitoring and Evaluation of the project activities.

Polytechnic University of Valencia

• Mapping EG universities contributions to the SDGs through surveys and research on the awareness of the target groups of SDGs, current policies towards environmental SDGs, and current activities related to SDGs.
• Development of SDC website/hub.
• Development of SDC mobile application.

a) Establishment of the SDC (Sustainable Development Center) of the university: The center acts for achieving management, governance and innovation capacities of the higher education institutes. This center will be established for the purposes of training, monitoring , evaluation and consulting services in the field of SDGs implementation in the higher education institutes. It will result in improving the current and future management of outputs, outcomes and impact of the higher education sector. This center will builds links between the past, present and future actions. It will mainly assess the performance of institutional campuses, services set up by higher education bodies towards the implementation of the SDGs in collaboration activities with the targeted groups.
b) Promotion of the awareness of the UN/Egypt 2030 Agenda: a variety of awareness activities will be carried out (workshops, promotional videos, brochures, gamification activities, quarter and annual reports, fact sheets …etc) resulting in the acceleration of SDGs implementation rate in the higher education sector and consequently delivering a model to other sectors of the nation to follow. As result, Egypt will be on the track to implement the UN SDGs 2030 Agenda and Egypt Vision 2030. This will increase capacities of higher education sector to modernise the curricula and programme by integrating SDGs within these programs.
c) Build-up of the SDGs Hub (website): a website to make 2030 Agenda for UN and Egypt familiar with all target groups, locally, regionally and internationally. This may lead to fostering regional partnerships and cooperation between different countries and higher education institutes of the Mediterranean.
d) Capacity Building of the human resources of the higher education sector in Egypt through mobilizing higher education in Egypt worldwide : building partnerships regionally and globally, better informed institutions, better trained students, graduates and staff (Academic, research, technical and administration) , better systems and facilities of observations, collection of data, monitoring, reporting, analysing and publishing data about the implementation of the SDGs in the Egyptian higher education institutes. This would result design of new innovative educational programs that will improve the competences and skills in the higher education institutes.
e) During the implementation of the project, recommendation of short-term action plans for the corrective pathways of SDGs implementation in the Egyptian universities as a result of the expected published fact sheets and annual reports from the SDGs center. The SDC will represent the key player in reforming the university policies and yearly action plans. It is expected that the SDC and the SDGs Hub will play a vital role in the build-up of updated policies and strategies of the EG HEIs. This will present a good practice for the reformation of the governance policies that introduce standards and guidelines for the development, management and governance of the higher education institutes.
