    Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) is a public educational institution that offers modern, flexible degrees that are designed to meet the demands of society, as well as official postgraduate programmes that are subject to demanding educational quality control systems. It has three campus sites with a total of 36,187 students, 2,843 members of teaching and research staff, and 2,396 administrative and services staff. UPV combines training with research and encouraging investigation and projects, balancing theoretical and applied research.


    With 41 departments, 40 research centres and institutes, 4.055 people involved in research structures, 410 skills, 222 patents, 13 results, 41 software, and offering 56 Master’s degrees and 28 Doctor’s degrees. UPV is composed of 11 schools, 2 faculties and 2 higher polytechnic schools.


    The researchers working in this project belong to the "Integrated Management Coastal Research Institute" (IGIC) of the UPV. IGIC’s general aim is to promote and conduct scientific research of excellence on various aspects of integrated coastal zone management.


    The research of the institute is structured into three main areas:


    1.- Environmental study and conservation of biological resources in coastal zones


    2.- Technological tools applied to marine and coastal environments


    3.- Knowledge, planning and coastal zone management. IGIC researchers have a broad scientific quality and experience, providing in many cases a prior history of collaboration and synergy.


    In order to illustrate these issues and their ability to interface, we can cite some of their participations in projects and contracts that have been developed, or are still in force, in many fields related to environmental monitoring.

    • Partner 2. Universite Abdlmalk Essaâdi (UAE) - (Morocco)

    Abdelmalek Essaâdi University was created in 1989 and covers three main areas: Science and Technology, Arts and Humanities, and Law, Economics, and Management.


    The University Abdelmalek Essaâdi is a unique university in the northern Region of Morocco “Tangiers-Tétouan Region” which hosts many structural projects and knows a continuous development.


    Since its inception, the University Abdelmalek Essaâdi remained faithful to its missions who are:


    • The initial and continuing education and training

    • Scientific research and valorization of results

    • The dissemination of culture and scientific information

    • Cooperation.


    The University provides curricula which lead to higher education degrees organized following the LMD. It enrolls almost 41.000 students and has 780 professors and 579 staffs members. It is spread on seven campuses situates in three towns: Tangier, Tetouan, and Larache.


    UAE has a long track record in scientific cooperation with Europe in a number of FP7, Tempus, and Erasmus Mundus projects and with close links with many European universities.


    In the UAE, there are 35 teams and 29 research laboratories. In 2011, the UAE has published 109 articles in international journals.

    Alexandria University was established in 1938. It is the second largest university in Egypt. It has many affiliations with various universities. It is contributing to the comprehensive development of the region. In 1942, the Faculty of Science was founded as one of the leading faculties of Alexandria University.


    Faculty of Science is a non-profit developmental institution offering educational services for producing qualified graduates that are of caliber.


    The graduates will also be able to conduct advanced scientific research in the field of sciences, technology, and their applications.


    The mission of Faculty of Science is to provide and serve the local job market in Egypt and the global community.


    The faculty's' departments are housed in several buildings that are allocated to different areas. Home to over 8.000 undergraduate and postgraduate students, 677 devoted faculties and staff, the Faculty of Science is committed to maintaining its record of excellence in teaching and research while it continues to recruit and educate the best and brightest students.


    The faculty establishes a tremendous learning atmosphere by harboring three distinct museums of Botany, Zoology, and Geology. The faculty includes four of a unique specialties in the Egyptian universities; Oceanography, Biochemistry, Geophysics, and Environmental Sciences.


    The AU represented by the Faculty of Science can help in the implementation of the project by staff and a team from the department of environmental sciences in collaboration with the AASTMT institution and environmental authorities. The contribution of AU in the practical implementation and the design of modern methodologies. In addition, the central laboratories for chemical analysis which includes tens of highly sophisticated equipment in addition to the library and electronic resources of Alexandria University will be very useful.


    The AASTMT was established in 1972 and with its campuses in Alexandria, Cairo, Port Said and Aswan, it has many achievements in education, training, consultation and research within the fields of transportation, logistics, engineering, and management sciences.


    The Egyptian team has a track record in water quality assessment, treatment, and risk management. We will participate with the consortium to perform all the proposed activities. Both the workshops and labs in the AU and the AASTMT will be used for the testing and simulation phases.

    • Partner 4. University of Haute Alsace (UHA) - (France)

    The University of Upper Alsace (UHA, Université de Haute-Alsace) is an academic institution devoted to research and student education, welcoming some 8000 students on its two campuses: Mulhouse (6500 students) and Colmar (1500 students).


    UHA offers hundreds of educational programmes in four main areas:

    • Languages and Humanities

    • Business and Management

    • Law and Social Sciences

    • Applied Sciences and Technologies


    UHA is a high-level research institution, with 17 research units divided into 6 different areas.
